Class

Let's Talk Adoption: A Lifetime of Conversations

Description

Talking about adoption can be difficult for a variety of reasons. Perhaps it's hard for you because you don't know what to say, or because you're afraid you'll say the wrong thing and hurt your child. Talking about adoption should not be a one-time conversation.

This class gives you the tools you need to make talking about adoption part of your family's everyday life.

  • Understand why talking about adoption is important to you, your child and your family
  • Identify, understand and manage your personal barriers to discussing adoption
  • Recognize how your child's understanding of adoption changes as he grows and develops: infancy, preschool, school aged, early teens and late teens
  • How to make adoption a regular topic of conversation for your family without "overdoing it"
  • Learn strategies to respond to questions as they arise
